overall just a solid effort. The weapons are fun and sufficiently different. The game changes things up pretty decently, with some "on rails" shooting and driving segments. There's not much to complain about here. The enemies are a little tiresome (mostly different types of soldiers), but the AI isn't too bad, and there were some interesting behaviors like jumping over objects and flanking.
I've played a lot of first-person shooters, and having played the old demo for this game, I wasn't expecting too much. If it had a more memorable plot, a less anti-climactic ending, and a little more enemy and puzzle variety, this would have been a top notch game. The length is decent but not too long, the graphics are decent, some environments are at least partially destructable, the physics are decent. I was wrong.
There are two time-shifting enemies you'll fight but I don't want to ruin it for anyone by describing them in more detail. As it is, I still recommend it whole-heartedly. It feels somewhat like Half-Life 2 in terms of pacing, but the lows aren't as low and the highs are higher. If you make too much use of your time shifting powers you will likely find the combat too easy, so I tried to limit its use until I really needed it.The story wasn't very involving, but the action was a lot of fun and the time-based puzzles were somewhat interesting and not too taxing.
Really keeps you on your toes and thinking. AI's really try to get to you and are very life like.I am very satified with the game.Amazon is a great place to do business. I am starting the game for the fourth time. Great weapons. I am 73 years old and am impressed with the store. Thanks, Larry 2nd time on the hardest level. It is a very intriguing First Person Shooter PC game.
Also if you pan up the rain drops will actually hit your mask and run down it. The psychics in this game are amazing, nearly everything you shoot, breaks or blows up and even though it has rag doll effects when you kill the enemies it still is very satisfactory and looks awesome. But overall this game is just loads of fun, also another thing is the elements, rain, snow, lightning etc. Stopping, slowing down, and especially reversing time are just awesome, theres so much you can do with it.
I've played this game many times and it doesnt get old, sure it looks ok on 360 and pretty lame on PS3 but it looks spectacular on my ASUS G50 gaming laptop. Gee i dont see anything like that in Gears or Killzone, while it may not look like those it is a much more creative game. it really gets you into the feel of the game, so by the PC version so you can get up close and personal. It has an Nvidia Geforce 9800M and wow it makes things come out like crazy.
The funniest is reversing when some guy does a flip through the air and u have him do it about 3 times, then shoot his assets in mid air.HA. And yes its by Sierra the creators of FEAR so how can you go wrong.:D Sure this game can get repetitive if you let it, just like with any other game, so, take a break. As for the story i never really cared that it was like Half-life 2, other than Resident Evils i never care much about story lines anyways, or very little.
The only gripe I have is it was too bloody short and I was left yearning for more. Fun in a box. Don't expect an epic adventure, but worth the current purchase price. I finished it in two sessions on elite difficulty. This is one fun FPS - variety of beautiful environments, decent storyline, selection of weapons to suit the task. Runs well and stable on non-cutting edge hardware (P4 D, 3 GHz., 2 GB Ram, NVidia 7800GT) with medium-high settings.
It's not particularly challenging, but I don't like getting stuck anyway. The ability to stop, slow, or reverse time was great fun. I only play first person shooters in single player mode, and this ranks among my all-time favorites. I bought this and Crysis at the same time, and I gotta say I think I had more fun with this one. It's older and never was a big hit as far as I know, but I liked it.
